Crossing the marble ridge in the Pirin Mountains is one of the most classic Bulgarian hikes. The panoramas can quite literally take your breath away, while the extremely exposed ridge will make even the bravest hearts race! This is a trek that every true mountaineer should have on their list of achievements. You will climb the majestic marble giants of Pirin and cross the terrifying ridge of Koncheto, but of course, that will not be all! On the second day of the adventure, you will elegantly combine views of the most famous Pirin peaks with some of the mountain’s most hidden and secluded trails.

Program:
Day 1: The Marble Giants of Pirin
Banderishka Polyana – Banderitsa Hut – Kazana Shelter – Kutelo Peak – Koncheto Shelter – Razlozhki Suhodol Cirque – Yavorov Hut
Meeting point at the parking area of Banderishka Polyana – 08:30 AM.
You will begin the hike along a picturesque forest trail beside the Banderishka River, reaching Banderitsa Hut (the first hut in Pirin). Through beautiful ancient Bosnian pine forests, you will continue ascending toward Kazana Shelter and the alpine parts of the mountain. Soon, you will pass beneath the magnificent northern face of Vihren and climb Kutelo (2908 m), the second-highest peak in Pirin. From here begins the most adrenaline-filled part of the journey – crossing the marble ridge of Koncheto! The guide will provide all necessary instructions and ensure your safety. You will see the sharpest alpine ridges of the mountain, as well as the entire Rila Mountain spread out before your eyes like an open palm.
After Koncheto, you will continue northwest along the entire marble ridge of Pirin. Where the marble gives way to granite, you will descend through the long Razlozhki Suhodol cirque, leading you to the secluded Yavorov Hut, hidden in the forest – a cozy refuge for all mountaineers.
Day 2: Yavorov Hut – Pareva Polyana – Katsata – Dunino Kuche Peak – Banderishka Polyana
The first goal of the day will be Pareva Polyana – a starting point for climbs along some of the toughest ridges in Pirin – Sredonosa and Koteshki Rid. You will have the chance to witness their full grandeur.
After taking in these views, you will head toward Duninoto Kuche Peak (2481 m) along a very adventurous trail, and once you reach the summit, you will be able to admire the majestic northern walls of the Kutelite peaks and Banski Suhodol.
From the peak, you will descend below Tsarna Mogila and continue along a secret trail back to Banderishka Polyana.
Before departure, you will celebrate with traditional Bansko specialties!
Mandatory personal equipment and requirements:
- backpack around 30–40 liters
- high three-season hiking boots
- 2 pairs of spare socks
- suitable clothing: comfortable long hiking pants, quick-dry T-shirt/blouse, thermal
- base layer top and leggings, fleece, raincoat, windproof jacket, down jacket or
- synthetic insulated jacket with hood, spare dry clothes for changing
- winter hat
- summer hat
- gloves
- buff or other head/neck scarf
- headlamp or flashlight
- sunglasses
- sunscreen
- personal first aid kit according to your needs
- trekking poles (recommended)
The hike is suitable for advanced participants with very good physical fitness. All hikes are conducted in compliance with the necessary safety measures and are led by a licensed mountain guide.
Group hikes with fixed dates are organized with a minimum of 4 participants. If you purchase a voucher for a scheduled group hike but the minimum group size is not reached for the selected date, or weather conditions do not allow the hike to take place, the organizers will offer you an alternative date and your voucher will remain valid.
