Winter alpinism for beginners. Northern ridge of Todorka

Dates: 2,9,16,23 December

Witness the most beautiful winter landscapes in Bulgaria. This route is relatively easy, but still offers short technical details that make its finish slightly challenging, in the right conditions. The easy access to it and the short duration of the climb itself make this ascent an excellent introduction to winter Pirin, and the panoramas of the Strazhite, the Vasilash Circus, the Marble Division of Pirin, as well as the whole of Rila to the north, make the ascent a truly memorable experience!

The experience includes

Programme:

On the day of the climb: arrival at Shiligarnika area at 06:30

Climb of Todorka peak on its Northern ridge and descent to Malka Todorka (about 3.5h)

Going back to Shiligarnika area (about 3h) and departure

What to prepare:

• High-top trans seasonal shoes or winter alpine shoes with a hard sole
• Thermal underwear (blouse and tights)
• Sweatshirt or warm jacket
• Puffer jacket with a hood
• Jacket (can be a ski jacket)
• Trousers (can be ski trousers)
• Winter hat
• 2 bandanas
• Two pairs of winter gloves
• headlamp
• Mountain poles
• Food for the day
• Thermos with hot water (700 -1000ml)
• A 30l bag 

All alpine climbing takes place subject to the necessary safety measures and is led by a licensed alpine guide.
