Culinary Zelnik workshop for two and stories of Vladimir Dimitrov - Maystora

In an idyllic setting and with the help of an authentic culinary master, you will experience the magic of preparing a typical regional dish, you will taste local food and learn more about village life. Indulge in a rest for the mind, open your senses to new knowledge and tastes, get to know the unknown Bulgarian village!

The famous Bulgarian painter Vladimir Dimitrov -Maystora has said that if there was ever heaven on Earth, that would be the Kyustendil region. Due to its rich nature, good people and good soil, he chooses this place to live and work. He didn’t consume meat or alcohol but he loved sheep yoghurt, boza, the local dishes tutmanik and zelnik, which in Shishkovtsi (his home village for a long time), people call Maystora’s Zelnik. You are welcome in the house of people from Shishkovtsi, where with their help you’ll prepare zelnik and hear the untold stories about Maystora. Learn about his life there, his art traditions, his taste for food and local village life. 

The experience includes: 

• Vegetable picking from the garden and preparation of seasonal salad and local dish
• Culinary workshop for Kyustendilski zelnik (Maystora’s Zelnik), baked in a village oven
• Tasting of homemade dishes and drinks
• Dress up and photos with local traditional clothing
